Pender Harbour Real Estate

About Pender Harbour

Pender Harbour Real EstateYou get the best understanding of the topography of this beautiful area by viewing the harbour from an overlook on Pender Hill or Mount Daniel.  The land mass below, which includes the villages of Madeira Park, Kleindale, Garden Bay and Irvine’s Landing, is cut through by a maze of waterways that connect all parts of Pender Harbour real estate.  You’ll see why Pender Harbour is known as the Venice of the North and some trips from place to place are faster made by boat than by car.

There is one gas station, no traffic lights or 24 hour anything here. There is no public transportation.   There are wilderness areas where you can explore unfettered by anything but the world around you – though it might be good to have a compass, first aid supplies and water to take care of yourself.  People who live in Pender Harbour value their calm, casual, friendly and independent lifestyle.

One resident wrote about Pender Harbour, “It’s not absolutely perfect.  It’s about as close as you’ll ever get.”   Many tourists to the area would agree.  The deep water of the harbour is a perfect spot for diving explorations.  You can experience kayaking as a pleasant paddle in calm water along the shore lines or as a strenuous fight with raging rapids.  Boating of all kinds is enjoyed in this water paradise.

Fishermen discover that salt and freshwater fish are both found here. Check out North and Waugh Lakes near Egmont.  Ruby Lake near Earls Cove has good trout fishing in season. The lagoon area is home to all kinds of birds and wildlife.

You don’t know how many stars really are in our sky until you’ve stargazed in Pender Harbour.  With no exterior lighting to mar the effect – unless you count a few streetlights - the night sky is really something you’ll remember.  The stars are bright and plentiful.

There’s a long list of festivals hosted here honoring all kinds of music, food, fishing and more.  There’s even the Fisherman’s Golf Tournament.  Family Fun Bioblitz at the Iris Griffith Centre features “critter counting, bird house building, face painting, pond dipping and kids eat free”.

Not everything in this town of 3,000 is geared to vacation.  School District 46 provides elementary and secondary schools for local children.  A Home Schooling program is available through the District too.  The Pender Harbour and District Health Center handles most health care needs.  St. Mary’s Hospital in Sechelt takes care of the rest.  If you like music, join the Community Choir or the Youth Choir, both bring local voices together. The Legion Pipe Band entertains for local events.
